United Federal Credit Union Hosting Free Community Shred Day

CaptureNILES, Mich. United Federal Credit Unions (UFCU) Niles South branch will host a free Community Shred Day on Wednesday, May 27, 2 5:30 p.m. The branch is located at 2100 South 11th Street. "At UFCU we are diligent about protecting personal information and we encourage our members to be diligent as well," said Branch Manager Lorie Owen. "There is a real peace of mind that comes from knowing that documents containing personal information have been properly destroyed." Document that should be disposed of in a secure manner include:
  • Bills
  • Bank statements
  • Canceled or voided checks
  • Employee documents
  • Expired credit cards
  • Legal documents
  • Medical records
  • Old licenses
  • Pay stubs
  • Receipts
  • Tax forms
Documents will be collected and destroyed on site by Kent Record Management. Credit union members and the general public may bring a maximum of five boxes of paper to be shredded. Kent Record Management says there is no need to remove paper from envelopes or file folders, including those with metal prongs.
