Community Financial Credit Union Awards $6,500 in Scholarships

CaptureBROOMFIELD, CO -The annual Community Financial Credit Union scholarship program was able to help a few more local students this year. The selection committee intended to offer three scholarships this year totaling $5,000. Due to the overwhelming number of applicants and a strong group of finalists, three extra scholarships of $500 each were awarded to additional candidates. The Credit Union is proud to announce the winners of this years scholarship contest: McKenzi Gorneault (Regis University) and Mariah Ehrman (Jefferson Academy Secondary) will each receive a $2,000 scholarship; a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to Gabrielle Diamond (Broomfield High School), and Heidi Wendt (Jefferson Academy Secondary), Nicholas Gustafson (Community Christian School), and Shannon Schooley (Bradley University) will each receive a $500 scholarship. "The Credit Union received more applications this year than in any previous year," said Greg Hill, CEO/President. "We were happy to allocate additional scholarship funds to support these students as they head to college, or continue work toward a degree." Community Financial Credit Union is committed to education and our community.� In addition to scholarships, Community Financial will be offering a series of financial literacy seminars to students in area high schools and members of the community at large. The seminars will focus on a range of topics, including first time home buying, building good credit, budgeting basics, and how credit unions operate.
