CaptureFrankfort Ky. - Commonwealth Credit Union teamed up with local law enforcement and Shred-it to host three Community Shred Days in Central Kentucky. As a financial institution, we believe that security is non-negotiable. Therefore, we offered our Community Shred Days to our members and general public to safely dispose of any old and un-needed financial or personal records. The first Shred day was at our Hamburg Branch in Lexington, shredding over 2,000 pounds of paper. Our second Community Shred Day was our biggest Shred Day, serving over 350 people and shredding a total of 8,000 pounds of paper. Our last Community Shred Day was held at our Georgetown Commonwealth CU branch, shredding over 2,000 pounds of paper. During each of these three events, we asked participants to donate non-perishable food items to the BackPack Snack Program. This program is coordinated through the Family Resource Centers located in local schools. This program provides nutritional food over the weekend for local school children and families in need. We collected a total of $456 dollars for the Backpack Snack Program, in addition to over 200 donated food items.
