1st Financial Federal Credit Union's Leadership Supports Community Involvement

headshots_29Small Business Monthly publishes their Top 100 People to Know in Business list and honors the winners with an awards luncheon annually.� The chosen recipients are selected by a group of community leaders and are recognized for their contributions to business within the St. Louis community. Carol Minges has called 1st Financial Federal Credit Union home for almost seven years.� Before she took over as Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis in November of 2013 and officially in June of 2014, Carol spent five and a half years as 1st Financials Chief Information Officer. During her tenure, 1st Financial has experienced a drastic culture shift, emphasizing the credit union philosophy of "people helping people."� While CEO, 1st Financial was chosen as one of the Best Workplaces in St. Louis for 2014 by the St. Louis Post Dispatch, started multiple initiatives to improve health and productivity within the branches, and launched a successful community presence program with the goal of assisting the underserved and underbanked population of St. Louis. This program includes community grant programs which donated $15624.65 to St. Louis non-profits, a paid employee volunteer program which allowed 1st Financial employees to work over 460 volunteer hours, and a partnership with the Saint Louis Agency on Training and Education and Tishaura Jones, the Treasurer of the City of St. Louis.� Carols vision will ensure that St. Louis becomes one of the least underbanked major cities in the United States and promises future city school graduates the choice to go to college. "Since Carol has taken over leadership of our organization, we have been given a vision and the necessary resources to create real change for our communities," said Laura Woods, Vice President of Marketing and Community Presence.� "She holds us accountable every day to make decisions that better ourselves and the people we serve." She continued, saying�"For her, its not lip service.� We are all proud to be on her team and excited to see her receive this honor." Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Information Systems, Information Technology and Business.� Before moving to 1st Financial, Carols experience included eleven years with FORUM Credit Union in Indianapolis, IN, serving in several operations and technology roles, as well as five years with Arsenal Credit Union in St. Louis.
