AutismMainOffice15FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS - The United Nations eighth annual World Autism Awareness Day was celebrated on Thursday, April 2, in conjunction with Autism Speaks international Light It Up Blue Campaign. The LIUB campaign encourages people around the world to shine bright blue lights on their homes, businesses and even on landmarks, in honor of the millions of people who are affected by autism. More than 130,000 buildings worldwide joined the LIUB campaign this year, including the Empire State Building, the Pyramids of Giza, and Londons Trafalgar Square. St. Annes Credit Union was excited to take part in LIUB this year by holding a casual day for a cause encouraging employees to donate to Autism Speaks and dress in blue. The Credit Union also challenged their employees to decorate their branches and departments in honor of World Autism Awareness Day and to submit a picture that was then posted on St. Annes Facebook page. Many of the branches submitted great photos showing off their wonderful and informative decorations, but in the end the Main Office won the picture contest thanks to their decorations that actually lit up! In total, St. Annes employees and members raised over $350 which will all go to Autism Speaks, the worlds leading autism science and advocacy organization.
