Tucson Federal Credit Union Awards $10,000 to Local School

CheckPresentationTucson, AZ Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) seeks to improve the lives of Pima County residents through quality financial products, financial education, and transformational giving. As the original credit union for the teachers of the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), TFCU created the annual Legacy Fund as a dedication to the continued advancement of education. The S�, Se Puede Cyber Caf� of Pueblo Magnet High School received the $10,000.00 grant, which was announced at TUSDs March Board Meeting. TFCUs President/CEO, Susan Stansberry, said, "TFCU designed the Legacy Fund to advance public education where positive results are evident. These funds aim to transform the lives of Tucsons youth through dedicated execution and positive reinforcement." The Cyber Caf� embodies Pueblo Magnet High Schools impressive commitment to encourage students to improve attendance, grade-point averages, and to graduate from high school. The Cyber Caf� is a bistro-style, on-campus space with desks, tables, and computer stations. The Cyber Caf� is open to all Pueblo students as a space to work on projects, classwork, and homework. Part of TFCUs grant will provide compensation to tutors so that the caf� can be open before school, during lunch, and after school in order to encourage and foster opportunities for Pueblo students to achieve academically. Dr. H.T. Sanchez, Tucson Unified School District Superintendent, said, "Community and business partnerships are key in the midst of increasing cuts to K-12 education. Were thankful to Tucson Federal Credit Union for supporting our students at Pueblo Magnet High School."
