CaptureST. PAUL, Minn. Many people living in the Minneapolis and surrounding communities get from point A to point B on bicycles and now, with the addition of 20 new stations for shared bikes through the Nice Ride Minnesota program, more people will have the opportunity to travel this way. Affinity Plus recognizes that as one of the nations top bicycling cities, Minneapolis has a need for increased convenience and service for two-wheeled commuters. In June of 2014, the credit union opened a bike thru lane so members wouldnt have to lock up their bikes and walk into a branch to perform a transaction instead, theyre able to complete their transactions by using this lane. And now, the credit union is proud to announce its Minneapolis location will be one of the new sites in town for Nice Ride Minnesotas shared biking program. The branch sits at the intersection of University Avenue and 26th Avenue SE, which has been identified as an area of high use due to its proximity to the University of Minnesota. The Nice Ride Minnesota station will be located on branch property in the parking lot. "Were so excited to be a part of this movement, and our members will appreciate having the opportunity to rent or return a shared bike at our location especially because our bike thru makes it possible for them to quickly do what they need to do while remaining on their bikes," shares Amber Shanley, branch manager. An exact date has yet to be set on when the Minnesota Nice Ride site will open at the Affinity Plus location, but the credit union hopes it will be available by early June. "Im hoping this will result in higher bike traffic not only from our members, but employees as well," states Shanley. "Seeing the bikes come and go will inspire me to get out and bike rather than drive my car."
