Boys and Girls ClubEugene, OR Oregon Community Credit Union branches and corporate offices were closed Monday, February 16th for Presidents Day, but staff did not take the day off! Over 210 Oregon Community Credit Union employees volunteered at twenty-one community service projects in Eugene, Springfield and Salem, contributing 840 hours of volunteer service. Employee volunteers teamed up and set out to assist a variety of nonprofits in the community, including Eugene Mission, Cascade Raptor Center, St. Vincent de Paul, Green Hill Humane Society, Community Supported Shelter, Parenting Now, Family Building Blocks (Salem) and Riverbend, Thurston, Two Rivers and Mt. Vernon elementary schools. Staff volunteers also landscaped at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum and Hendricks Park, decorated bulletin boards for the Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley, readied pallets of donated computer parts for recycling through NextStep Recycling, and completed various other tasks to help alleviate some of the work load for these hard-working nonprofits. Oregon Community Credit Union CEO Mandy Jones, who was recently awarded the prestigious Alton F. Baker award by United Way of Lane County for her work as a community leader, said, "Investing in our communities is part of our identity, both as an organization and as a proud, local credit union. We see this day as a way for us to give back and make a difference in the community. And, as a not-for-profit, we are eager to help out the incredible nonprofit organizations within our communities that help us all thrive. " Oregon Community Credit Union maintains a steadfast commitment to keeping Oregon strong by investing in its members and the communities it serves. "Im proud to be a contributing member of this community, and a part of the incredible OCCU team. Were really all in this together," said Jones.
