Westerly Community Credit Union Donates $9,331 to Local High Schools' Sports Boosters

Westerly, RI - This week, the Westerly Community Credit Union showed support for local athletes, sports programs and schools as they donated 100% of the proceeds from the 31st Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament to Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Stonington and Westerly High School Sports Boosters. Each school received a check for $2,332.75 for their basketball teams hard work, determination and participation in the tournament. The 2014 tournament, which was held Dec. 26th, 27th, 29th & 30th raised a total of $9,331! The Westerly Community Credit Union is the sole sponsor of the tournament allowing 100% of the entry fees to be divided between the Sports Boosters of the participating schools.� This popular event has now raised over $193,901.30 since the 1st tournament took place in 1984. "WCCU has always been a very community-oriented institution," stated Steve White, WCCU President & CEO. "We couldnt be happier being the sole sponsor of this event for the past 31 years and raising money to help our communities young adults." The Westerly Community Credit Union is proud to sponsor this event yearly and wishes to thank all who participated: the boys & girls, JV & Varsity basketball teams, the coaches, and of course the fans.
