Westerly, RI - This week, the Westerly Community Credit Union showed support for local athletes, sports programs and schools as they donated 100% of the proceeds from the
31st Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament to Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Stonington and Westerly High School Sports Boosters. Each school received a check for
$2,332.75 for their basketball teams hard work, determination and participation in the tournament.
The 2014 tournament, which was held Dec. 26
th, 27
th, 29
th & 30
th raised a total of
$9,331! The Westerly Community Credit Union is the sole sponsor of the tournament allowing 100% of the entry fees to be divided between the Sports Boosters of the participating schools.� This popular event has now raised over
$193,901.30 since the 1
st tournament took place in 1984.
