PJDrive2014_1Tucson, AZ Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) serves Pima County and stands for what matters most, the community. TFCU employees recorded 2,275 hours of volunteer time in 2014, and the Certified Green Business donated $93,267.00 back to the community through local nonprofits and other tax-exempt organizations, such as schools. To help establish this culture of volunteerism, TFCU pays its employees for eight hours of volunteer time each year. If an employee reaches 16 hours of volunteer time, TFCU donates $50 to the charity of their choice. On top of the 532.25 hours that TFCU paid for, employees logged another 1,742.75 hours. The 2,275 total hours of employee volunteer time in 2014 increased by over 20% from the previous year. The volunteer hours, when multiplied by the employees wage, amounts to $86,083. This monetized value and the donations made throughout 2014 amount to an overall impact worth $179,350.00. TFCU is a community credit union at its core. Alongside the paid volunteer hours, TFCU has three programs that contribute the health and prosperity of the community. The largest contributor comes from the Community Partnership Award, in which $45,000 is awarded to organizations whose vision and results align with TFCUs mission of education and the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." In 2014, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson were awarded $25,000, and two $10,000 contributions were made to the El Rio Health Center Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson. TFCU surpassed the $45,000 Community Partnership Award donations through other philanthropic programs such as the New Account Donations and TFCU Gives programs. Every new member to TFCU selects between one of four charities to which TFCU makes a donation. In 2014, this program contributed $8,627.00 back to the community. The TFCU Gives program allows organizations in Pima County to partner with TFCU by requesting event sponsorships, monetary donations, volunteer support, and in-kind donations. Through this channel, another $38,390.00 was donated the previous year. TFCU was founded in 1937 as Tucson Teachers Federal Credit Union. TFCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in Pima County. Today, TFCU has grown to more than 49,000 members and seven locations in Tucson, Marana, and Sahuarita. Their growth and success comes from those members who use their services, a dedicated group of volunteers who are elected by their members to represent them, and a great staff who are committed to creating an exceptional experience.
