20150211_081950FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS - St. Annes Credit Union employees participated in their first Credit for Life Fair of the school year on February 11th at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. At Credit for Life Fairs students in the Junior class are given the opportunity to take part in an interactive financial literacy exercise that covers the basics of budgeting and managing credit. Students are assigned incomes and credit scores, usually dictated by their grades and attendance, and then have to create a monthly budget by visiting different booths at the fair that pertain to different aspects of life such as housing, lending and credit, vehicles, groceries, and insurance to name just a few. St. Annes employees act as "credit counselors" during these fairs, discussing the students budgeting decisions with them and providing them with guidance regarding their choices. Every year St. Annes participates in multiple Credit for Life Fairs at local High Schools and they are always well attended by employees who want to participate in this great event.
