Valor Credit Union recently donated $2,087.50 to Make-A-Wish� Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia during a formal check presentation. The funds were collected from a number of initiatives the credit union organized in 2014 such as: a credit union and Make-A-Wish� cookbook, blue Make-A-Wish� bracelets sale, and branch bake sales.
The greatest amount of funds raised came from the sale of the cookbooks. An internal volunteer council of credit union employees produced the books filled with recipes from credit union staff, members, and local Make-A-Wish� children, as well as artwork from the kids. Nearly 200 cookbooks were sold from August through December 2014 in the credit unions branches as well as at the local chapter office of the Make-A-Wish Foundation�.
"As a long-time supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation� of Greater Pennsylvania, raising money for this cause is important to all of us at the credit union," said Sean Jelen, CEO. "Im very proud of all of our volunteer council members who executed the various fundraisers in support of this worthy organization."
"We are so appreciative of Valor's generous donation," says Maggie O'Brien, Make-A-Wish� Regional Manager. "These funds will help provide a magical wish experience for local kids with life-threatening medical conditions, which has been shown to help them feel stronger, more energetic and more willing to fight their medical conditions."
The money raised from the credit union initiatives will go towards funding a wish for a child in Lackawanna County.
Make-A-Wish� Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children, aged 2 � to 18, with life-threatening medical conditions.
