First Community Credit Union Donates $8,000 to Children's Hospital

Jamestown, ND - First Community Credit Union (FCCU) recently held fundraisers for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) through Credit Unions for Kids. Employees of FCCU chose a different organization each quarter to raise money and awareness for. With a match from COOP Financial Services, FCCU has donated $8,000 to CMNH, a network of hospitals that have been helping kids in need for over 30 years.
North Dakotas local CMN hospital is Sanford Childrens Hospital in Fargo. In 2014 the hospital cared for nearly 62,000 children from all over the state of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.� Money raised for Sanford Childrens Hospital will help fund lifesaving medical equipment, special programs unique to sick and injured children, research and education.�
"I had the opportunity to see donations in action while visiting Sanford Childrens in Fargo," says Janna Bergstedt, Marketing Manager for FCCU. "Not only do they have a hospital where children receive superior care for their health, but also a unique, child-friendly and healing environment. On behalf of FCCU, we are honored to support such a wonderful cause."
Funds were raised through various means including selling chocolate bars, casual Fridays for charity, and Shop for Miracles, where FCCU donated 25 cents every time members used their debit card on International Credit Union Day.
The $4,000 raised by FCCU was matched by CO-OP Financial Services as part of its CO-OP Miracle Match program. This $1 million annual matching funds program matches contributions at the local level, expanding the contributions raised by credit unions for CMNH.
Credit Unions for Kids is a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues/associations and business partners from across the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals. Adopted as the credit union movements charity of choice, they are the 3rd largest sponsor of CMN Hospitals. One hundred percent of every dollar donated through Credit Unions for Kids goes back to the local CMN Hospital.
