SueJennieDonnawithSign-edittedGreat Lakes Credit Unionwas able to meet their 2014 fundraising goal and present a check to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago for $10,000! The hospital will receive one hundred percent of every dollar donated, allowing them to continue care for more than 153,000 children each year! To accomplish this goal we engaged with our community and conducted various fundraising activities throughout the course of the year: Early in the 2014, we participated in the Childrens Miracle Network "May is for Miracles" initiative. Each GLCU branch created a display to resemble balloons being held by two children and collected donations. These balloon displays were well received and generated over $2,000 in donations from members and staff! We also raised hundreds of dollars by conducting a monthly "Miracle Jeans Day" for GLCU employees. To participate, employees voluntarily donated $5 in exchange for a "pass" to wear jeans to work on a designated day each month. And, we didnt stop there! In addition to these efforts, GLCU donated $1 for every new account opened throughout 2014. These combined efforts helped us reach our goal of $10,000 for the year! We are thrilled to have collectively accomplished our goal and are looking forward to doing the same in 2015. CU4Kids is a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues/associations, and business partners from across the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 Childrens Miracle Network(CMN) Hospitals. Since 1996, the Credit Unions for Kidsprogram has generated over $100 million for CMN Hospitals. CMN is the worlds largest childrens charity and its hospitals, such as Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago, help treat millions of children every year!
