Sioux Falls, SDFor Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union, a season of giving that started with a bake sale on Halloween recently ended with a carload full of toys that will be donated to the Sioux Falls Toys for Tots program.
This holiday season started early for Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union when they decided to partner with two organizations to help spread blessings to people in the Sioux Falls community. The Credit Unions first effort began on October 31 this year when employees held a bake sale to raise funds for the Community Outreach and Center for Hopes Sharing Christmas program. With the help of their members, the Credit Union was able to raise over $1200, which was used to sponsor three financially struggling families this season by proving basic needs items as well as Christmas gifts for them.
"We initially planned to sponsor one family in need this year," said Sarah Hofer, a Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union employee helping lead the initiative. "However, we were humbled and pleasantly surprised to see that we had raised enough funds to help give three families a nice Christmas this year."
The giving didnt end there, however. Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union also recently wrapped up a toy drive to raise toys for children in need in the Sioux Falls area. In the months of November and December, you may have seen an inflatable Santa riding a motorcycle or four-wheeler in one of the Credit Unions lobbies. Throughout the season, members brought their toy donations to their local Credit Union branch in an effort to help Santa fill his ride with toys. Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union was pleased to report that they were able to fill four large boxes of toys to deliver to Toys for Tots as a result of the campaign.
According to Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union, these successful giving campaigns would not have been possible without the generosity of their members, staff and partners at Dakota Financial Services, Inc. and CU Mortgage Direct, LLC.
