1st Financial FCU Supports Financial Literacy in Local School

1st financial1st Financial Federal Credit Union employees took part in Junior Achievements "J.A. Our Community" program to teach Financial Literacy at Heritage Primary school in Wentzville. Promoting financial literacy within the community is one of the ways 1st Financial Federal Credit Union strives toward its vision of "helping people achieve their financial dreams."� While financial seminars and informational brochures fill in the gaps of adults financial knowledge, encouraging financial education for youth enhances their chances to have a successful future.� In order to establish this foundation, 1st Financial is partnered with Junior Achievement in the month of November. Since 1919, Junior Achievement is guided by core values which include a belief in the boundless potential of young people, a commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship, and a conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning.� On November 25th, 1st Financial employees taught the "J.A. Our Community" curriculum to eight classrooms at Heritage Primary School in Wentzville, MO.� This program, which focuses on teaching students money management skills, jobs, the role of government in finance, and the importance of voting within the community helps develop math skills, increases vocabulary, and career awareness. "The time spent by 1st Financial employees in the classroom at Heritage Primary was greatly appreciated," said Tracie Roberson, Program Manager for Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis. "By sharing their experiences, skills, and abilities through the JA Programs, students were able to connect what they were learning about in school to their future."
