Pasadena, TX - Gulf Coast Educators employees donate $5 on select days to wear denim. In October, the funds raised from the denim days was earmarked to support the Pasadena ISD Komen Team. Each year, the credit union participates with Pasadena ISD in their breast cancer awareness fundraising by purchasing shirts from the districts Komen team. The credit unions employees wear the shirts with their denim on the same days that Pasadena ISD employees.
This started more than seven years ago when the credit unions HR Director, Rhonda Kirchman, a breast cancer survivor teamed up with Thompson Intermediate to purchase the shirts. It has grown to an annual commitment which has raised thousands. Kirchman states, "This is such a worthy cause and all you have to do is look at the back of each years shirts to realize the impact breast cancer has had in our school community."
