Highmark fcu logoA special holiday event, "Highmark Giving Tree", kicks off on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. The public is invited to the Credit Unions main office at 725 5th Street in Rapid City for holiday treats between 2:00 and 3:00p.m., where they can pick up an ornament with a childs name and wish list attached. Then, return the unwrapped gift with the childs first name attached by December 12th and keep the ornament as a keepsake for being that childs Santa Claus. Its that easy to create joy in the life of a child! Childrens Home Society touches the lives of more than 2,000 children in South Dakota annually. Most of the children are victims of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. "During this beautiful season, most of us give thanks for our homes and family", explains Theresa Schreiner, Black Hills Childrens Home Development Coordinator. "Although being with a loving, forever family is likely the number one wish of each of these children, your gift will provide them with Christmas morning joy and wonderful memories. It will be a good reminder that they are not forgotten and are important and loved." For the 5th year in a row, Highmark FCU will partner with the community and Black Hills Childrens Home to give these kids special Christmas morning joy. Highmark FCU, 725 5th St., is a convenient location to pick-up your ornament and drop off your Santas gift. "We are so pleased to be able to help the kids living at Black Hills Childrens Home again this year. We have a heartfelt desire to insure each one of these children is granted a special wish on Christmas morning," explained Highmark President, John A. Carlson. "This is a great opportunity for anyone to make a difference in the life of a child."
