Credit Union Fills two cars with toys for "Toys for Tots" program
December 17, 2012
Every year the Sioux Falls Street/Fleet Department builds a toy box, fills it with toys and then donates the box and the toys to children in need throughout the community. This year Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union in Sioux Falls, SDand the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be helping them with their effort.
This week, Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union will wrap up their "Fill the Cars for the Kids" campaign, where they successfully filled two convertibles full of toys for the Toys for Tots program. All locations of Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union, along with their partners CU Mortgage Direct, LLC participated in collecting toys for the "Fill the Cars for the Kids" campaign. However, they wont just be donating two carloads of toys, theyll also be donating a truckload. This year, the Street/Fleet Department built a dump truck shaped toy box, which they had their employees fill withtoys. That truck-shaped toy box was delivered to Sioux Empire Federal Credit Union to assist with their toy drive.
"We started the tradition about six years ago and have donated every year since," said Kristin Lobien of the Street/Fleet Department.
The toys will be delivered to the Toys for Tots program for distribution to children in need throughout the Sioux Falls community. The Toys for Tots program will then be assisting with donation of the toy box. The goal this year is to donate the truck-shaped toy box to the family of a U.S. veteran.
