"You proudly served our country. Let us proudly serve you" a message that also appears on area billboards the credit union put up in honor of Veterans Day. Pete Dzuris, Northland CEO, commented, "We wanted to find a way to thank the men and women who put themselves in harms way for us all. It was an honor to put them up, and weve heard some wonderful comments from our members." Dedication to veterans is nothing new for Northland. The credit union has a strong military heritage. Founded in 1957 on the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base, the financial institution once known as Wurtsmith Federal originally served base personnel and their families. Decades later, the credit union now has 13 branches serving communities in ten counties. A 14th branch under construction in Gaylord will include veteran parking as well. photo: Alane Taylor, Oscoda Branch Manager, standing by a Northland parking space reserved for U.S. veterans.
