SparkyLangley, B.C.On Saturday, October 18, local residents braved the rain at the annual Pumpkin Patch Event at Aldor Acres. This event, hosted by Envision Financial in partnership with the BC Professional Fire Fighters' (BCPFF) Burn Fund and the Township of Langley Fire Fighters, is now in its fifth year. This event aims to provide a positive and fun environment for children and adult burn survivors and their families to build relationships and a sense of community with one another. The day was a tremendous success, with approximately 150 attendees, including the Township of Langley Fire Fighters and their families. Activities included the petting zoo corner, hayrides, picking out a pumpkin to take home from the pumpkin patch, visiting with Sparky the Fire Dog, touring the fire truck and eating a delicious hot dog lunch. The event also included fire safety information for the general public visiting Aldor Acres. "Were so proud of the way this partnership has developed over the past five years," says Susan Byrom, manager of community investment at Envision Financial. "This unique, community driven program really comes alongside those who have been affected, while seeking to educate and prevent others from becoming victims." The BCPFF Burn Fund provides life saving, life supporting and life enriching services to residents of BC. More than 3,800 BC fire fighters dedicate and donate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public's knowledge about fire and burn safety issues. The BCPFF created the world's first Adult Burn Survivor support program in 2009 and Envision Financial is proud to be a part of this program.
