Credit Unions Help Raise Over $175,000 for Children's Hospital

102214chocwalkTwenty-six teams featuring representatives from 19 credit unions and seven affiliate organizations participated in the annual CHOC Walk at the Park Oct. 12, raising more than $175,000 for Childrens Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). This was the second year credit unions from throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties came together to walk and fundraise for CHOC.� This collaborative team was the brainchild of Bill Birnie, CEO of Eagle Community Credit Union in Lake Forest, who came up with the idea in 2013. This year, more than 1,350 walkers from the various credit unions and affiliate organizations took part. CO-OP Financial Services was the sponsor of the light blue team t-shirts. "It is very exciting to see credit unions come together and collaborate for such a worthy organization. It definitely shows that, together, credit unions can make a huge impact," said Birnie of Eagle Community CU.
