Credit Union Provides Financial Literacy Seminar for Students
October 28, 2014
Minot, ND - Juniors and seniors from 18 area high schools attended the one day personal finance seminar "$MRTZ" held at Minot State University on Wednesday, October 8.
This year's event provided students with information on budgeting, saving for large purchases, credit card usage, loans, investing, interest rates and fees, earning power, college costs and financial aid.
There was also a student panel comprised of Minot State University students sharing their past experiences and lessons in personal finance. The keynote address was presented by Lance Hill from the Bank of North Dakota who provided an engaging presentation on the things he wishes he'd known at the age of 18.
"The day was a lot of fun for everyone involved. Weve received nothing but rave reviews from both students and educators that were in attendance," commented Shannon Webster, SVP Marketing at Town & Country Credit Union. "$MRTZ serves as a great way to reinforce the principles of personal finance that students have been learning in the classroom," she added.
Planning has already begun for Fargo $MRTZ scheduled for Thursday April 23rd, 2015 at the Fargodome and for next year's Minot event.
