Credit Union Donates $1,000 to Food Bank

Lawrenceville Coop Ministries PhotoLAWRENCEVILLE, GA� �Peach State has donated a portion of the proceeds from the 19th Annual Northeast Georgia Chapter of Credit Unions golf tournament to Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry, Inc. Founded in 1995, the food bank and financial support group, has received $1,000 to advance their initiative to help members of the community become self-sufficient.��Each year, the Chapter designates charities in the counties served by its 19 participating credit unions to receive proceeds from their annual golf tournament. "One of the primary benefits of our participation in the Chapter is to generate support for our local charities. Its part of our social mission as a credit union to help people in the communities that are part of our footprint," said Laura Ryll, Chapter Board Member and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer at Peach State Federal Credit Union. "The Lawrenceville Co-Op helps 700-800 different Lawrenceville and Dacula households per month. �We distribute about 24,000 cans of food per month and $20,000+ per month in utility, prescription and housing assistance for homeless families with children," said Linda Freund, Director of Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministries.��"With a donation of $1,000, we can help 10 families with the last $100 of their utility bills, or put 5 homeless families with children in a motel for one week, or help at least 13 individuals with $75 toward their prescription medication or a combination of these financial needs."
