The credit union gave away $2,639 in cash, a 46-inch TV and prizes to its members in a money booth at the Fall Festival in the Denham Springs Antiques and Arts District on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Pelican sponsored and produced the Fall Festival alongside the Denham Springs Antique Village Merchants Association. The credit union is the community partner of the association and enjoys supporting one of Livingston Parishs premier events. Pelican set up shop early and the line for the money booth stretched 40 people deep when the festival started at 9 a.m. There was no catch! All Pelican members 18 years old and older could take a turn grabbing cash and prize slips in the money booth. Festivalgoers could also apply for membership on the spot to get a turn in the money booth. "I am so excited that Steven won $115 and all these prizes in the money booth today! I won $9 and tons of Pelican swag. Thank you Pelican State Credit Union!" exclaimed Pelican member and Denham Springs resident Theresa Ard. Ard and her boyfriend and fellow credit union member Steven Forrester came out to the festival early to get a good spot in the long money booth line. Ard, Forrester and several other participants stopped by Pelicans branch located 145 Rushing Road the day before the festival to pick up coupons for 5 extra seconds in the money booth. On top of those bonus seconds, anyone who posted about the event on their social media account and used the credit unions hastag, #PelicanPays, received 5 more seconds! Forrester was one of five members to take home a $100 bill. Plus, 18-year-old Taylor Bice took home a 46-inch Samsung TV. "Ive been a Pelican member since I was about 8 years old," said Bice. "I will definitely continue to use Pelican in the future," she added. Bice isnt sure what she is going to do with the TV but is thinking about gifting it to her grandfather! The credit union is dedicated to giving back to its members and supporting the Denham Springs community. Recently, the credit union gave away $4,000 in free groceries to shoppers at Carters Supermarket on Vincent Road. Pelican also hosts a Kids Bike Race before school starts each year. The bike race is open to the public and is a completely free event that includes a face painting, games and refreshments. Pelican members can benefit from free one-on-one credit counseling, a variety of convenient products and services and several opportunities to win cash and prizes throughout the year.
