pwcu-ccc_&_pppPORTLAND, OR Point West Credit Union is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its "Pedal Power Photo Contest," used to promote Portlands unique bike culture and to support the Community Cycling Center this summer. In honor of the contests success, Point West donated $1,000 to the Community Cycling Centers "Create a Commuter" program, which provides safety education and commuter bicycles to low-income adults striving to connect to workforce development. "As a not-for-profit financial cooperative working every day to improve the financial wellness of our members, we understand how vital affordable, reliable transportation can be to success," said Amy Nelson, President and CEO at Point West. "We hope these funds will help the Community Cycling Center to continue to build their program and provide transportation to those that most need it in our community." The photo contest invited Facebook users to "like" the Point West Facebook page and to enter their best biking "selfie" out in our community in July and August. The entry that received the most votes was submitted by Dawn Shelton, who received a $250 VISA gift card for her efforts. In addition, the campaign received nearly 200 likes, over a dozen photo entries, and reached tens of thousands more via social media and at local summer community events, including the Big Float, Portland Sunday Parkways, National Night Out and the Portland Bridge Pedal. The credit union collaborated with Caf Give and Portland Pedal Power to make the campaign a success. "Working with such great, like-minded organizations only increased our contests outreach and impact," said Steve Pagenstecher, Marketing and Member Experience Manager at Point West. "It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and support from our community." The Community Cycling Center is a nonprofit founded in 1994. Its mission is to broaden access to bicycling and its benefits to build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected.
