dowMIDLAND, MICH., Employees at Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union raised more than $305 for the Coleman Veterans Memorial through their most recent "Jeans Day" fundraiser. For each of the one-day fundraisers, which occur throughout the year, participating credit union employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day. The Coleman Veterans Memorial, run by a committee of local citizens dedicated to honoring servicemen and women, is a nonprofit organization devoted to the education of local youth, residents and visitors about the sacrifices and services of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. The committee collects funds to maintain the Coleman Veterans Memorial, as well as funds to create and install other military memorials. "Its an honor to give back in a way that shows our appreciation to those who have given so much," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. "Many staff members have been directly touched by the dedication and sacrifice of the members of our Armed Forces many of whom are family, friends and neighbors." Already in 2014, the employees have raised more than $2,000 for charitable and community organizations through regular Jeans Day fundraisers. In addition, staff members have organized and participated in service activities such as roadway cleanup projects and Habitat for Humanity volunteer events. About Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union DCECU has more than $1.4 billion in assets and nearly 57,000 members. Not a member? Its easier than ever to join.
