after2California - Foothill Federal Credit Union (Foothill) and CE Fry Construction were hard at work over the summer to complete a break room make over for the La Verne Heights Elementary School staff. Last Thursday Aug. 13, 2014, the school principal, Patrick McKee and staff were able to get their first look at the completed break room. Foothill conducted the makeover contest within 14 foothill community school districts, taking submissions just before summer break. The applicants used video, humor, and pictures to show Foothill just how much their schools staff lounge needed the makeover. This years winner is within the Bonita Unified School District. After Principal McKee was informed that the school had been selected, Foothills Marketing Department made the announcement at the schools annual walk-a-thon fundraiser. The Foothill employees arrived at the school wearing construction hats and carried balloons. La Verne Heights faculty and staff were elated to hear they would soon have a new break room. Foothill staff, along with Jeff Fry of C.E. Fry Construction met with the schools principal and district personnel to review a "wish list" the staff had put together. The room that was made over had most recently been used as a special needs classroom. The teachers had opted to forego a break room, so that the students needs would be priority; however the school recently was given the green light to convert the room to a break room. Thats where Foothill came in to help. The school staff requested a coffee house vibe with earth tones and caf style seating. Foothill delivered by producing a room with green walls, dark brown cabinets, wainscoting, butcher block tables, and a cozy seating area with a couch and smart TV. The teachers were very happy with the completed room and many stated it was more than they had even imagined. Foothill specializes in serving local school district and hospital employees. The credit union strives to exceed its members expectations. Several Foothill employees regularly volunteer to participate in community events. With a zest for serving schools within the credit unions field of membership, Foothill has become a recognized organization within the community.
