20140801_120422BOGART, GA Peach State Federal Credit Union has donated food to the Area Churches Together Serving (ACTS). ACTS is a Ministry of Oconee County Churches, which was organized to help people with emergency needs who are permanently or temporarily located in the surrounding area.

Non-perishable food items were collected at each of Peach States branches from April through July generating the sizable donation. This contribution is part of Peach States pledge to make donations year-round to food banks throughout the credit unions seven county footprint.

"We have a social mission to support the communities that support us, and donating food to these communities is an important tool to sustain communities and help them thrive, especially during hard times," said Peach State President/CEO Marshall Boutwell.

ACTS serves individuals who are referred by participating churches and Oconee County Social Services agencies such as DHR and ACTION.

"This donation will help feed the nearly 600 families that we serve," said ACTS Volunteer Leader, Reiny Hiss. "More than 2,000 families will visit us through the year, representing nearly 7,000 needy people in the area."

About ACTS

The purpose of ACTS is to enable churches to join together to provide material and emotional support for those people with emergency needs who are permanently or temporarily within our community. Such support will include the operation of a central collection and distribution center for food and clothing, limited financial assistance toward the cost of shelter and utilities, and other services as resources become available. ACTS serves individuals referred by participating churches and by Oconee County Social Services Agencies such as DHR and ACTION. For more information about ACTS, call 770.725.2330.
