Credit Union Chapter Awards $15,000 in Grants to Local Organizations

DETROIT, Mich.���The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions recently announced grants totaling $15,000 awarded to eight Detroit area non-profits. Since 2005, the Metro West Chapter has awarded $145,000 to local organizations.� Funds are raised through the Chapters annual golf outing.

� Presentations will be made to representatives of this years top three award recipients of $2,500 each at the Chapters Annual Charity Golf Outing. These include PBJ Outreach, Fish & Loaves, and Center for Creative Arts.� The event will be held at the Northville Hills Golf Club on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

Awarded grants of $1,500 each are Redford Interfaith Relief, EcoWorks, Matrix Theatre Company, Detroit Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) and Ruth Ellis Center.

"Our committee reviewed a number of grant requests submitted this year before selecting these award recipients," said�Carrie Williams, strategic liaison and project manager for the University of Michigan Credit Union and Metro West Chapter charity grants committee chair. �"The selection is not easy, because there are many deserving organizations that are helping people in need in a variety of ways throughout Wayne and Washtenaw counties. We are glad to assist."
The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions is a chapter of the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL).� The Chapter will begin accepting grant proposals for next year in May 2015.
