untitledRapid City, S.D. - Every August, school age children in South Dakota look forward to embarking on a new school year; but for some, the excitement is curbed by their familys lack of resources. In an effort to lessen the financial burden of back-to-school expenses and ensure as many students as possible are equipped with the supplies they need to start the school year on a successful foot, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is kicking off its 18th Annual School Supply Drive. From binders to backpacks, pens, pencils and paper, BHFCU is collecting school supplies for children in western and central South Dakota at all BHFCU, Black Hills Power and Black Hills Corporation locations, July 18 through Aug. 15. Throughout the School Supply Drives 18-year history, the credit union has impacted countless students and communities. Last year alone, BHFCU, along with a growing network of individuals and businesses, distributed more than 90,000 supplies to more than 5,000 local students in 60 area schools. "The School Supply Drive would not be possible without all of the generosity in the Black Hills," said Kylene Casanova, business development officer and co-chair of the School Supply Drive. "This year, were anticipating a greater need for supplies and were going to try very hard to make sure students can return to the classroom prepared. Every donation makes a difference we stretch every dollar to make sure kids can have a positive learning experience." If youre interested in contributing to BHFCUs School Supply Drive, there are several ways to help. You can bring school supplies or monetary donation to any BHFCU location, or hold a drive at your workplace, and BHFCU will bring a school bus to your business to pick up donations. Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a community-focused, member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative serving more than 59,000 members from Member Service Centers in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Spearfish and Wall, South Dakota.
