Hanscom AFB, Mass. Hanscom FCU proudly participated in the American Cancer Societys Relay For Life of Burlington last month, raising $10,006 from donations, fundraisers, and a match from the Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation. Hanscom FCU also sponsored the event at the Fight Back level.
Hanscom FCU For a Cure, a team of Hanscom FCU employees, ranked third out of 59 teams for fundraising, while team captain and training specialist Sandy Imbrogna received special recognition as the eighth-highest individual fundraiser out of 539 participants. In total the Relay raised more than $156,000 in support of American Cancer Society programs and services.
"Hanscom FCU joined the Relay For Life 15 years ago to honor an employee lost too young," said Hanscom FCU Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. "Today that same commitment continues in support of survivors and those currently battling the disease, and I couldnt be prouder of our Hanscom FCU team."
Imbrogna also applauded the work of the Hanscom FCU For a Cure Team: Soraya Cote, Ewa Tepper, Melissa Lockett, Nancy Huerd, Nancy Sleeper, Luis Rivera, Eric Bullock, Diana Mautino, Cindy Sherry, Laura Satchell, Joanne Bottari, Maria Porto, Julie Gallagher, and Sheryl Berglund.
"Their efforts to�take part in an event to help otherswhether it be in memory of a loved one, or in celebration of a friend or family member who has beaten the odds, or to just take a stand in support of othersmade it a privilege to be part of this years Relay,"she said.
