DSCN2316Houghton Lake, MI: In the spirit of Unite for Good, two Michigan credit unions recently came together to pay their respects at the AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall. North Central Area CU and Northland Area FCU joined forces to bring free, ice-cold bottled water to the community during the Opening Ceremony July 10th. At the water tent, the credit unions gladly accepted donations for Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, which was also on site. NMCAA provides immediate financial and practical support to ensure stable housing for area veterans and their families. Combined with $250 donations from each of the credit unions, NMCAA received $642 in total contributions during the event. Representatives of the two credit unions also took part in the Opening Ceremony by jointly presenting memorial wreaths at the foot of the wall. "As the only two credit unions in Houghton Lake, it was an honor to come together to pay our respects at this event," said NCACU President/CEO Jacci Pothoof. "What a humbling experience," added NAFCU President/CEO Pete Dzuris, "We owe our veterans more than we could ever begin to repay." The American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) creates a forum for communities to come together to honor, respect and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
