Clackamite22Milwaukie, Ore. On Saturday, July 19th, Clackamas Federal Credit Union (Clackamas) and its members celebrated their success in raising $20,000 for donation to two local nonprofits, A Safe Place Family Justice Center and Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council. During the festivities, Clackamas presented $10,000 checks to both of these extraordinary organizations, and Clackamas members were given the opportunity to meet with representatives from each group to learn more about their important, life-sustaining work.

The two nonprofits benefiting from this campaign are vital members of the Clackamas County community. Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council coordinates search and rescue in our region and improves local search and rescue programs through critique of past missions, planning of future missions, and by offering enhanced training opportunities. A Safe Place Family Justice Center provides a safe location where a collaborative of several community partners works together under one roof, supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence and meeting their needs across a continuum of carethey are committed to working together to end violence and abuse in our county.

A Safe Place Family Justice Centers $10,000 donation will be used to provide child care to center participants, so that they can feel secure in knowing that their children are safe and cared for while they utilize the centers resources. "When these children come with their parents right out of a traumatic situation, they need some quality kid time. The child care at A Safe Place allows the children to get that special attention rather than being re-traumatized by having to hear their parents story retold," said Sarah Groshell, Domestic Violence Coordinator for Clackamas County.

The funds donated to Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council will be used toward both the purchase of a mobile shelter for volunteers and the purchase and installation of a remote-location radio repeater. Searchers often have to stand for an hour or two outdoors waiting to be deployed. This shelter will provide a warm, dry place to study maps, prepare for searches, and rest. The new radio repeater will make it so search teams no longer need to establish temporary repeater stations in a given area, freeing up resources for other tasks and rescues. Currently, searchers may spend 5 hours just setting up a temporary repeater station. "Its overwhelming to have Clackamas Federal Credit Union give us such a profound gift. The benefits from a mobile shelter and a permanent radio repeater station are immense," said Sherri Magdlen, Director of Development for the Council. "A new mobile shelter will be a huge help to our volunteers and a new repeater location will ensure more effective coverage of an active search area and will improve searcher safety."

"Our board of directors is committed to serving the people of Clackamas County," said Mary Greco, CEOof Clackamas Federal Credit Union. "We cant say enough good things about the work A Safe Place Family Justice Center and Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council are doing for our community. We are thrilled that this donation will help both groups in their efforts to save lives." We are proud of the generosity our members demonstrated in raising these funds and are happy to have had the opportunity to donate to these important community organizations.
