Credit Union Awards $9,500 in Scholarships

MANSFIELD, Texas� Texas Trust has awarded five scholarships to high school students, totaling $9,500.

Dubiski Career High School senior Jonathan Smith received $1,000 for the Career Technology Education Scholarship, given to students who included career and technology courses as part of their formal high school curriculum. Jonathan plans to major in finance at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Two students from Mansfield Independent School District were awarded $1,000 a year for the next four years as part of Texas Trust's Fine Arts and Engineering Scholarships. Gina Shahidullah, who graduated from Summit High School, plans to major in aerospace engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Thomas Kelly, a graduate of Mansfield High School, will attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh to major in entertainment design/theatrical design.

Two students from Sam Houston High School received Seamless Pathway Scholarships. Jasmine Sanchez received $300 and Jocelyn Flores $200. The students submitted essays, which addressed financial planning and budgeting for college. The Seamless Pathway scholarships are given in partnership with the Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and Arlington ISD.
