food driveDeer Park, Texas Another successful year is in the books for the Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Teams annual Everyones Gotta Eat food drive powered by Shell Federal Credit Union. The food drive is annually hosted throughout the month of May to help fill the shelves of local food pantries before the summer months. During the food drive monetary donations and non-perishable food items for people and pets were collected at all eight Shell Federal Credit Union locations. This year Shell FCU encouraged employee participation by allowing the employees to wear blue jeans to work if they donated five food items. This movement brought in over 500 donations in just five days. With the help of the community, staff, and local schools over 3,000 items were collected and more than $800 was raised. The donations benefited 15 different food pantries and animal shelters throughout Harris County, TX. The FCU Team would like to extend a special thank you to the faculty and students at the following elementary schools for their partnership and donations.
  • San Jacinto Elementary, Deer Park, TX
  • Fairmont Elementary, Pasadena, TX
  • Rizzuto Elementary, La Porte, TX
  • Mae Smythe Elementary, Pasadena, TX
  • Jessup Elementary, Houston, TX
  • Pyburn Elementary, Houston, TX
  • Lakeland Elementary, Humble, TX
The FCU Team is switching gears and preparing for their annual school supplies drive, Supplies for Students. School supplies and monetary donations will be collected throughout the month of July at all eight Shell FCU locations. The elementary schools that partnered with the FCU Team for the food drive will be the recipients of the collected school supplies. The schools will then delegate the supplies to their students in need. Visit any Shell FCU location throughout July to make a donation.
