CPCUSomerville, MA - CPCU Credit Unions Community Cooks Cooking Team is celebrating one year of donations to ShortStop, a community-based residence and transitional house for homeless young adults. June marks the one year anniversary of CPCUs monthly donations through Community Cooks, a local nonprofit that rallies volunteers to provide home-cooked meals for vulnerable neighbors in our community.. CPCU is also a founding member of Community Cooks Executive Chefs Circle, a core group of businesses who share the Community Cooks commitment to building the community by supporting local human service programs. As an extension of the Executive Chefs Circle, CPCU created a team of ten cooks and snackers. CPCU employees have been working together to provide full, balanced, home-cooked meals each month to ShortStop. For twelve months, each employee has prepared a meal component for 12 young adults. In addition to the cooks, CPCU also have recruited "snackers" who provide ShortStop with juice, fruit and nutritional bars among other things. "We are so proud to participate in the Community Cooks intiative to benefit ShortStop. This unique program is a great way for employees to personally get involved in organizations that CPCU supports. Our cooking team members are always working together to ensure a balanced meal and frequently looked for themes throughtout the year," commented Rui F. Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at CPCU. "CPCU is an example of what a company can do under caring leadership," said Daniele Levine, Executive Director of Community Cooks. "We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Rui, the Credit Union, and all the staff who are helping ensure that their struggling neighbors have access to nourishing home-cooked meals." CPCU recognizes that finding time to volunteer can sometimes be challenginig, but Community Cooks alleviates the difficulty of scheduling by asking each volunteer for a simple monthly commitment of providing a home-cooked dish that is part of their teams larger meal.
