TUCSON FEDERAL CREDIT UNIONS $45K COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AWARDS
Tucson, AZ - Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) announced the recipients of the fourth annual Community Partnership Awards. The winner of this years $25,000 award is the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson. TFCU also honored both the El Rio Health Center Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters with $10,000 each for their contributions to the community. Based on their impact in the community and on our youth, TFCU is proud to support these organizations.
TFCU considers any non-profit whose vision and results align with TFCUs mission of education and the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." Ideal functions of the award recipients include community development through art, culture and humanitarian causes. These are especially applicable when involving our youth or education. These organizations displayed, with evidence, their benefit to children and families in the Tucson community.
The Boys and Girls Club of Tucson has more than 6,000 youth currently enrolled. They have six strategically located clubhouses in order to produce the greatest amount of positive change for children that need it the most. They do so by offering a safe, positive place with an open-door policy for children that may otherwise be unsupervised and at-risk for corrosive behavior. TFCUs donation will provide means for the Arts and Crafts program to continue at two locations, the Jim and Vicki Click and Holmes Tuttle Clubhouses.
The El Rio Health Center Foundation (El Rio) exemplifies a patient-centered approach to health care. They offer primary and dental care, pharmacy services, immunization clinics, education programs and more. Seventy-four percent of patients were insured by Medicaid or had no insurance. El Rio proposed that proceeds will benefit the Inner-City Asthma Intervention Program for children with severe asthma, the Childrens Dental Program and the Childrens Immunization Program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson (BBBST) produces a highly-regarded mentoring program through the matching of children and mentors as well as training and ongoing support for mentors. BBBST has helped over 10,000 children since its humble beginnings in 1963. They will likely add more than 500 success stories this year but face the possibility of turning children away. They plan to use this award to recruit volunteers and support existing matches.
TFCU was founded in 1937 as Tucson Teachers Federal Credit Union. TFCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in Pima County.� Today, TFCU has grown to more than 49,000 members and seven locations in Tucson, Marana, and Sahuarita.� Their growth and success comes from those members who use their services, a dedicated group of volunteers who are elected by their members to represent them, and a great staff who are committed to creating an exceptional experience.
