"We were excited to celebrate this milestone with members and friends throughout the community," said Darla Erb, Voyage Chief Executive Officer. "While our founders wouldnt recognize the ways we interact with our members today, the cooperative principles that were established when we opened our doors are still going strong. Thats a testament to the way we do business." During the annual meeting, plans to celebrate this milestone were unveiled. Over the coming year, the credit union has plans for many "75" numbered themes attached to campaigns, causes and events and banners will be on display at the credit unions branches. In addition, the credit union intends to recognize all the members and partners that helped them grow and prosper. One such partnership, Avera McKennan, received a donation $7,500 for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Avera McKennan has served the community for over 100 years and has the only NICU in their system in Sioux Falls. Babies and families from the SD, MN, IA region are helped there. For nearly 15 years Avera has provided Voyage FCU space to operate a branch within the hospital where the credit union can serve all their employees, credit union members, right on campus. The credit union also announced that they are kicking off a 75 day disposable diaper drive. Each branch will be collecting packages of disposable diapers, and after 75 days - on August 4 - will deliver them to Feeding South Dakota/Food Pantry. Voyage Federal Credit Union was first known as Sioux Falls Bell FCU, and was chartered on October 4, 1939 with 66 members. It offered savings and loans with assets of $211 in deposits and $30 in loans.
