Credit Union Makes Positive Difference in Community

PAKT_Check PresentationThe Helping People 1st monthly grant program gives 1st Financial Federal Credit Union employees the opportunity to make a positive difference within the community.� The Hazelwood branch, located at 5916 North Lindbergh, chose to award a $500 grant and volunteer employee hours to work with PAKT Community Center in the month April. PAKT Community Resource Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people of North St. Louis County by providing emergency rent and utility assistance, hosting after school and summer programs for local children, and acting as an emergency food pantry for the community since 1965.� According to t heir website, PAKTs mission is "to unite Christian congregations, Corporate Foundations and individuals in a�community�based (both secular and Christ-centered) human social service organization to provide basic material, health, recreational and educational programs for individuals and families in need." "The Hazelwood Team chose PAKT Community Resource Center because they have a vision and mission of helping low-income underserved families right here in our own community. We wanted to play a part in helping those within our own community find a place to live, receive education and have a chance for a better and brighter future and we were able to do that by giving PAKT the Helping People 1st grant" said Tanya Forsythe, Branch manager of the Hazelwood Branch. She then went on to say�"After spending time at PAKT, I am positive that this organization has the heart, good will, and passion to make a difference in the lives of anyone that has the good fortune to walk to through their doors." In addition to a $500 award, the Hazelwood branch organized a paid volunteer day where employees were able to work directly for PAKT.� The branch also held bake sales and other fundraising activities to increase the overall gift presented.� On May 15th, Mrs. Forsythe presented Toni Burrows, President of PAKT Community Center with a check for $1863.86. "Its wonderful what you are doing for the people in this area," stated Toni Burrows, President of PAKT.� "We take a holistic approach to helping people.� We work to impact their entire lives.� With the help we have received from 1st Financial, we will be able to support even more people within our community.� "Thanks is the smallest, biggest word you can use to express gratitude.� This program has been incredible and PAKT thanks you for your service."
