Madison, WI In partnership with UW-Madison, UW Credit Union donated $150,000 to establish the UW Credit Union Financial Capability Fund. The donation will be used to create and implement a series of three one-credit financial capabilities for life success courses for UW-Madison students.� "We are proud to partner with UW-Madison and are committed to improving students lives by giving them the foundation they need to make sound financial decisions," said Paul Kundert, President & CEO of UW Credit Union.
The initiative was formed in collaboration with the UW-Madisons School of Human Ecology (SoHE) and supported with the help and expertise of professors, students and many others across the UW-Madison campus. The program will be piloted to a small group of students this fall and will officially launch spring 2015.
"This innovative course is one in a series of SoHE courses designed to provide UW students with practical life skills, knowledge and experiential learning they will need to be successful after graduation," said Soyeon Shim, Dean of the School of Human Ecology. "We are grateful that UW Credit Union understands how important this issue is for students and their life success, and has stepped forward with their support."
Financial literacy is a key focus for UW Credit Union. Last year alone, they delivered 25 financial education seminars to more than 1,800 students and faculty members at UW-Madison. UW Credit Union also has a long history of support to the campus and provides financial education in partnership with the University of Wisconsin. "Financial literacy is a critical issue facing college students," said Jaimes Johnson, Director of Community & Campus Relations at UW Credit Union. "Thats why we believe in doing our part to make a difference by giving students the tools they need to achieve financial stability."
