Credit Union Awards $14,000 in Scholarships

Livonia, MI� Co-op Services recently awarded a total of $14,000 in scholarships to seven 2014 graduating high school seniors in metro Detroit.� The credit unions scholarship program, celebrating its 20th year, was established to honor longtime Co-op Services volunteers and to recognize outstanding students, who are credit union members.� Co-op Services has awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarship funds since the program began.
Scholarship recipients and their parents were honored at Co-op Services 59th annual membership meeting in March.
"This scholarship program honors our founders and volunteers whose vision of helping members achieve their dreams is very much alive today," said Lisa Fawcett, vice president of marketing for Co-op Services.� "We are proud to help these outstanding graduating high school seniors further their education and realize their dreams."
Co-op Services Credit Unions 2014 scholarship recipients include:
- Margaret "Maggie" Wilk, Novi High School, Novi $4,000 Al Williams Scholarship
- Kayla Dempster, Ladywood High School, Livonia $4,000 Harlan Richardson Scholarship
- Monica Prasad, Salem High School, Canton $3,000 Dutch Farr Scholarship
- Eric Smorch, Grosse Ile High School, Grosse Ile $1,000 Mark Stroebel Scholarship
- Sarah Drongowski, Gabriel Richard Catholic High School, Riverview - $1,000 Margaret Kremer-Hehman Scholarship
- Madison VanGelder, Avondale High School, Auburn Hills - $500 William Allen Scholarship
- Jessica Trionfi, Allen Park High School, Allen Park $500 James Cullimore Scholarship
