Rebuilding Together LowellLOWELL MA Jeanne DArc Credit Union was pleased to participate in this years Rebuilding Together Lowell program. Fourteen employees dedicated their Saturday (April 26, 2014) to repairing and rehabilitating the home of an elderly couple on Hoyt Avenue in Lowell. The husband is a former U.S. Marine and Korean War veteran. Both the husband and wife have health issues that make it difficult for them to work on their home. In one day, the Jeanne DArc team along with a crew of skilled professionals and additional volunteers rebuilt front and rear stairs, replaced drafty windows, installed smoke and CO2 detectors, installed grab bars, replaced a non-functioning toilet, replaced a storm door, installed handrails, cleaned out the basement, replaced bulkhead stairs, and did yard work. "Our employees recognize the value of community service and we were pleased to have a team contribute their time and energy to such a worthy endeavor," said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne DArc Credit Union. "I am proud of the commitment our employees have to their communities, and their participation in Rebuilding Together Lowell is an excellent example of their dedication." Rebuilding Together Lowell is an all-volunteer organization started by former City Councilor Peter Richards in 1997 as Christmas in April Lowell. It is committed to providing home rehabilitation services to low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, the disabled and families with children. The program relies upon material donations, sponsorships, and volunteers to complete the renovations.
