dowMIDLAND, MICH., Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union hosted an Earth Day paper-shredding event from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, to help members safely dispose of confidential paperwork in an environmentally responsible way. Representatives from Shred Experts a paper-shredding company with security-trained employees and secure equipment were stationed in the credit union parking lot at 600 E. Lyon Rd. in Midland to provide a safe and secure means to dispose of sensitive information. Shred Experts is an environmentally conscious company that recycles the end waste and reintroduces the recycled product back into the paper stream. DCECU members could watch while their documents were shredded on-site. By securely disposing of documents, it is less likely the information can be used for identity theft or fraud. "DCECU staff members wanted to celebrate Earth Day in a way that benefited both members and the environment," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. "We understand that its often hard to dispose of documents, given the sensitivity of personal information. Members were able to finish up their spring cleaning and join us as we shredded and recycled documents in a very safe and secure fashion."
