Credit Union Awards $12,500 in Scholarships

Rose Foisy ScholarBRUNSWICK, GA - Georgia United Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of their 2014 scholarship programs.� A total of $12,500 was awarded and disbursed to thirteen high school seniors through the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship program and the Archbishop John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship program. This is the 20th year that Georgia United has given the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship and the 7th year for the John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship. A total of approximately $142,500 has been awarded to high school seniors during the tenure of both programs.� Recipients are chosen based on an essay competition with consideration given to academic accomplishments, leadership and participation in both school and community activities.� The top winners for 2014 were Colin Humble of George Walton Comprehensive High School and Joseph Long of Loganville High School, respectively. Brunswick was also represented among the Georgia United Scholars this year: Rose Foisy of Brunswick High School was a $1,000 Scholarship recipient. Already accepted at the University of Georgia, Rose is President of the National Honor Society, a member of the Beta Club, Drum Major for the Marching Pirates and plays flute in her schools wind ensemble.� She is also in French Club and has been dancing for fourteen years.� She is the daughter of Bruce Foisy, Coastal District Manager of the Ga.
