Joey Long Catholic ScholarDULUTH, GA�- Georgia United Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of their 2014 annual scholarship competition.� A total of $12,500 was awarded and disbursed to thirteen high school seniors through the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship program and the Archbishop John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship program.� Thanks to all the high school seniors who entered this years competition as we had a record number of entries! This is the 20th year that Georgia United has given the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship (in honor of the founder of the Credit Union) and the 7th year for the John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship (in memory of the late Archbishop who expanded credit union services to the entire Archdiocese.) A total of approximately $142,500 has been awarded to high school seniors during the tenure of both programs.� Recipients are chosen based on an essay competition with consideration given to academic accomplishments, leadership and participation in both school and community activities.� The First Place winner for the Vernon Carne Scholarship was Colin Humble of George Walton Comprehensive High School, a member at St. Annes Catholic Church. Top Winners in the Archbishop John F. Donoghue Scholarship Competition were Joseph Long of Loganville High School, and Ameet Kallarackal of Blessed Trinity High School as runner-up.�
