texasMANSFIELD, Texas More than 300 employees from Texas Trust Credit Union assembled 50 Huffy bikes in a team-building project, and then donated them to elementary school children in Mansfield. As part of Texas Trusts annual employee training day, employees took part in a Wheels for the World charity workshop. Employees were divided into teams, and each team worked together to solve intellectual challenges. Upon successfully completing each exercise the team earned a bike part, and accumulated parts to assemble a bike from scratch. Employees also decorated the 20-inch bikes and created personalized cards for each child. "This team building activity gave employees an opportunity to foster camaraderie, have fun, and do something positive for children in our community," said Amber Danford, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Texas Trust Credit Union. According to Danford, building bikes for children whose parents cant afford to buy a bike made the team building event more rewarding for employees. "It was a way for us to reinforce our corporate philosophy of people helping people by getting employees involved in a hands-on charitable project that also emphasized teamwork," she said. Employees received a final surprise at the end of the event when a large group of children excitedly entered the room to receive their new bikes.
