golfSummerville, SC - On Friday, April 4th, Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union hosted their 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in Summerville to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event raises community awareness and helps fund better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer. This years tournament raised $12,000. Over 50 players joined local businesses and industry leaders to show their support through personal donations and corporate sponsorships. "Heritage Trust has been a longtime supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life event. The Annual Charity Golf Tournament is our way of raising funds to help combat this terrible disease that has impacted so many lives," commented Heritage Trust President/CEO, Jim McDaniel. "I am proud and thankful for all of the sponsors who eagerly answered our call for action this year. At Heritage Trust, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities we serve and are looking forward to next years golf outing and the opportunity to do more in the fight against cancer." Cindy Young, Heritage Trust VP of Support Services commented, "My family and I have been participating in the Relay for Life since 2001. This is a fun, well-planned event that offers our community the opportunity to rally together and raise money for a wonderful cause. I have had many family members and friends that have been affected by cancer and this is one way I can contribute my time to support them and my local community." Funds raised at the tournament, as well as through other fundraising efforts held throughout the year, will be donated to the American Cancer Society at their signature event, the Relay For Life, on April 25th. Relay for Life is a yearly celebration that raises money and public awareness in the fight against cancer.
