Envision FinancialSurrey, BC The Vancouver Chamber Choir will sing in Surrey at the Bell Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, May 8, 2014 as part of Surrey Schools Secondary Choral Festival. The program includes an exclusive afternoon learning session for students and teachers, and an evening performance featuring select student singers and the Vancouver Chamber Choir starting at 7:00 p.m. "We look forward to being in Surrey again and working with Surrey Schools to help further the Fine Arts program objectives," says Vancouver Chamber Choir Conductor, Artistic and Executive Director Jon Washburn. "Its been a while since weve sung South of the Fraser and the Choir members and I are excited about our sessions with the students and teachers, and our evening performance, too." Surrey Board of Education chair Shawn Wilson is excited about the prospect of district students working with the Vancouver Chamber Choir. "To have an award-winning, professional choir and 2014 JUNO Award nominee sing with and coach our students and teachers is a wonderful learning opportunity and our board is thrilled to be able to host this very special event." The concert will be sponsored by local financial institution Envision Financial. Last year, Envision Financial launched a new community initiative called The Full Cupboard, which is designed to raise food, funds and awareness for local food banks. The Full Cupboard will be incorporated into the evening concert and will be supporting Surrey School District meal programs. Ticket holders will be able to make a cash donation to provide a student with nutritious meals and non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Surrey Food Bank. Donations can also be made online at www.thefullcupboard.ca. "The blending of young singers and professional voices will make for a unique educational experience and artistic exchange," says Susan Byrom, Envision Financial community investment manager. "We are proud to sponsor the Choral Festival and also wish to thank the Vancouver Chamber Choir for their support of The Full Cupboard program for Surrey Schools. Through our Full Cupboard program we have committed to raising $1 million for local food banks over the next 10 years." Tickets for the evening performance can be purchased online at www.BellPerformingArtsCentre.com or by calling Bell Performing Arts Centre box office at 604 507-6355 during regular office hours.
