CaptureNILES, Mich. United Federal Credit Unions Pam Ender was honored as the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerces Volunteer of the Year. Ender works as a Mortgage Loan Originator and was recognized for her numerous efforts within the Niles community.
"I was in total shock," said Ender. "I was not even aware that I was nominated for this award and it has been a very humbling experience. UFCU has always been supportive of my volunteer efforts and I am fortunate to work for an organization that encourages all of its employees to go out into our communities and give our time and energy."
Ender volunteers with youth and professionals through several organizations in the Niles area including: Michiana Christian Service Camp for 23 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County Indiana for over 15 years, Deer Run Church of Christ-Youth Group, Premier Womens Network of Niles, Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce and Michiana Networking.
"Pam is truly an inspirational role model to the students she helps raise funds for and the Chamber community," said Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce President Tyanna Weller. "UFCU has been a proud community partner for many years, donating hundreds of paid volunteer time, while the staff provides additional support with numerous unpaid hours volunteering at local events. UFCU staff members, like Pam, contribute several thousand dollars of their own money to worthy charities every year."
Pams efforts have specifically made a huge impact on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County Indiana. She helps with three special fundraisers every year: the bowl-a-thon in March, the golf outing in July and the auction in the fall. Pam helps with the organization and day-of needs for the events, which help raise 50% of the annual budget for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"Being able to make a difference in the lives of those I come in contact with is the greatest reward," said Ender. "I would encourage all UFCU employees to get involved with a cause you truly believe in and give your best as a volunteer."
United Federal Credit Union provides eight hours of paid time off for employees to use toward volunteering annually in their communities. With 22 branches in six states, UFCU strives to create strong relationships in every community it serves.
